Saturday last Mrs. Frances Tencate, mother of Col. Fred A. Tencate, Phoenixville, died after a prolonged illness. She was an estimable lady in every respect and had many friends and acquaintances who will be sorry to hear of her demise. A number of children survive her.

Death of John E. Tencate- Mr. John E. Tencate, a well-known citizen of Phoenixville, died on Monday afternoon, from the effects of an attack of inflammation of the bowels. Deceased had lived in Phoenixville nearly thirty years. He had raised a large family. One of his sons, Col. T. E. (sic) Tencate, is cashier of the Phoenix Iron Company, of that place. He was noted for having cheerful disposition, hich did not desert him up to the moment of his death. He called his family about him and told the that he was soon to die, and bade the an affectionate farewell in the same cheerful manner that he would have done if about making a pleasure trip. Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church of Phoenixville, in which faith he died.

Interment- The funeral of John E. Tencate takes place to-day at Phoenixville ad will be attended by the Odd Fellows, of which order the deceased has been many years a member. Mr. Tencate was the father of Fred A. Tencate, cashier of the Phoenix Iron Co. and late Colonel of the Eleventh Regiment. Rev. Joseph Porter, formerly pastor of the Presbyterian church at Phoenixville, will conduct the services. Mr. Tencate was well known and was highly respected in the community in which he resided.

Large Funeral- The funeral of John E. Tencate, of Phoenixville, took place on Thursday morning from his late residence on Bridge street, that place. His remains were followed to their final resting place by a large number of sorrowing friends as well as by the following named societies to which he belonged for many years, Viz: Phoenix Lodge I.O.O.F, Phoenix Lodge F. & A.M, and Sankanac Lodge K.of P. Services were held in the Presbyterian Church, of which he was also a member. Rev. Jos. W. Porter, formerly pastor of the church, now stationed at Trenton, N.J, preached the funeral sermon, and paid a beautiful tribute to the life and character of the deceased.

- Obituary: Albert A. Tencate, 91, who was employed for 74 years by the Phoenix Iron Company, died suddenly at his home, 429 Vanderslice street, this morning at 5:00.  Death was due to a heart condition.  He held the longest record of employment in the history of the iron company.  During the civil war he was one of the workmen who helped make famous Griffen cannons.
Born in Lyme Regis, Dorshire, England, he started work at 14.
He was one of Phoenixville's best known men and was one of the oldest residents of the borough.
His wife, the late Emily Evans Tencate died in 1897.
He is survived by nieces:  Frances A. Tencate,  Mrs. Jennie Carter, Mrs. Bella Hygate, Mrs. Frances S. Brown.  Also Morgan Snell of Philadelphia, Fred A. Tencate, Mrs. Mary Walker of Martins Ferry, Ohio, George Tencate of Rochester, Pa.   Grandnieces:  Elizabeth Hodge Keen of Wilkes Barre, Pa, Mrs. Frances Shaw of Palmyra, New Jersey.
He was a member of the Phoenix Lodge I.O.O.F, Past Noble Grand and Fifty Years Jewel.
