TEN CATE - Vernon Ten Cate, of Holland, passed away Wednesday December 4, 1996 at Holland Community Hospital. Age 91 years. Vernon was born in Holland on November 16, 1905. Her was preceded in death by his wife, Lois in December of 1995. Vernon was a graduate of Hope College amd the University of Michigan Law School, was senior partnes of Ten Cate, Townsend, & Cunningham in Holland, was former President and Chairman of Ottawa Savings & Loan Bank, served as Holland City Attorney, served as the attorney for the School Board of Holland Public Schools.
Vernon is survived by three children, Joan E. Bonnette of Kalamazoo, Daniel and Beverly Ten Cate of Ada, MI and John and Marleon Ten Cate of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a niece.
Memorial Services will take place Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Hope Church, 77 W 11th Street, Holland. Rev's Marion De Velder and Dennis Te Beest will officiate. Burial will take place in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be at the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Church of Hope College. Arrangements are by the Downtown Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 29 E 9th St, Holland.

Lois Elizabeth Ten Cate, 87, of Holland, died Saturday, December 2, 1995, at her home.
A member of the Holland Community Hospital Auxillary, she was instrumental in creating a gift shop at the hospital and received a 25 year commendation for her volunteer work there.
She was a graduate of Hope College and a member of Hope Church. She was also a member of the Woman's Literary Club.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon; children, Joan E. Bonnette of Kalamazoo, Daniel D. and Beverly Ten Cate of Naperville, Ill, John V. and Marleon Ten Cate of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Elsie DeWolf of Rochester, N.Y.
A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Church, 77 W 11th St, with the Revs. Marion De Velder and Dennis TeBeest officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Yvonne was a retired detective with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. She enjoyed traveling extensively, as well as bowling with her weekly league and playing in her card club. Yvonne is survived by her husband, of 35 years, Carl; daughter, Tami (Mike) Trousdale; son, Gib Ganschow; three granddaughters, Darci (Chad) New, Kayla (Austin) Cornwell and Tayler Ganschow; and one grandson, Tripp Ganschow, all of Las Vegas; two stepdaughters, Carol (Justin) Shaw of Nolanville, Texas, and Shelly (Greg) Thomas of El Paso, Texas; one stepson, Robert (Manuela) Grove of Spain; one sister; and three brothers. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private at Davis Memorial Park.

He served in the US Navy Band from 1950-1954 and traveled with Big Bands to pursue his career as a professional saxophone musician. He moved to Las Vegas in 1966, where he continued his career on the Las Vegas strip in many Las Vegas show bands and lounge acts. He formed his own band in the early 1980's called the "Carl Grove Combo" and he continued to actively perform locally for a wide variety of musical engagements. Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Yvonne Grove, who passed away in November 2011. Carl is survived by his brother; Jim Grove from Bethlehem, PA, Daughters; Carol Shaw of Nolanville, Texas, and Shelly Thomas of El Paso, Texas, Son; Robert Grove of Sevilla, Spain and step-son; Gib Ganschow of Las Vegas. Carl is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Madison, Taylor, Tripp, Kayla and Darci. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W.
